Scientists & Engineers - All Levels

Mid Level Engineer We seek an experienced civil / water resources engineer or similarly qualified, knowledgeable of coastal, riverine, and floodplain studies, and having demonstrated experience with FEMA FIRM study guidelines. Experience with Water Management District Watershed Management Program planning and analysis a plus. Minimum of 5 years of related experience and a Florida PE license. Must also be willing to work on multi-disciplinary teams and be capable of managing and executing project tasks with limited oversight. Master's degree preferred.
Project Scientist / Engineer We seek an experienced hydrologist or similarly qualified environmental scientist or water resources engineer knowledgeable of aquatic and wetland communities and how hydrological processes influence freshwater and estuarine ecosystems. Minimum of a master's of science and 5-8 years of experience performing water resource investigations. Fundamental understanding of surface water and groundwater hydrology and methods of analysis is a must; knowledge and experience related to freshwater ecology and marine biology a plus. Experience compiling hydrological and water-quality data and using statistical and other data management software to perform exploratory data analysis, ANOVA and regression analysis is essential. Experience performing hydrological, ecological and / or GIS modeling a plus. Must demonstrate experience, in whole or part, preparing text, tables and figures for interpretive scientific reports. Must also be willing to work on multi-disciplinary teams and be capable of managing and executing project tasks with limited oversight.
Senior Civil Engineer should have a P.E. with 10 to 20 years permitting and design experience related to land development and site plans. This position will be primarily involved in the US Army Corps of Engineers Army Training Range Design Contract with sites throughout the US and overseas. Experience with USACE standards, US military training, DOD, or other similar government work is a plus. Occasional travel (monthly) is required. Presentation skills are necessary. Successful candidate will be in a leadership/mentoring position overseeing an A-E design team. Position may lead to senior program management. Position involves good client skill, business development. Understanding of DoD organizational structure, DoD program management/funding, and various agency functions (USACE, US Army IMCOM, and NAVFAC) preferred. Design experience in storm water, utility, roadway, site grading, sediment and erosion control, and agency permitting preferred. Light structural design a plus. The principle HSW office is located in Tampa, Florida.
Senior Geologist / Hydrogeologist - Tampa We seek an experienced geologist / hydrogeologist knowledgeable in strategic planning and site investigation & remediation under various regulatory programs (RCRA, petroleum, dry cleaning, brownfields, & CERCLA). The successful candidate will report to senior management and will be expected to work largely independently, while following HSW’s quality and risk management policies. This is a senior level position with significant growth and career advancement opportunity. Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to: Site characterization planning and implementation, including data evaluation, visualization, and reporting; Remedy evaluation, selection, implementation, and performance monitoring; Scoping, organizing, and overseeing completion of complex projects tasks with responsibility for resource allocation, subcontractor management, and budget and schedule management; Managing multidisciplinary teams; Regulatory agency interactions; Recruiting and mentoring junior personnel; and Client management, development of new business opportunities, and participation in business development functions. Qualifications: The minimum qualifications are a Bachelor’s degree in geology. A Masters or Ph.D. degree in geology with an emphasis in hydrogeology is strongly preferred; Ten (10) years of directly relevant work experience; Professional licensure in Florida and other Southeastern States; 40 hr. OSHA health and safety training / annual 8-hour refresher (provided, as needed); Excellent verbal & technical writing skills and scientific / engineering problem-solving abilities; Some travel.
Senior Remediation Engineer The position requires a P.E. license with 10-15+ years experience; a B.S. or M.S. degree in environmental/civil/chemical/geological engineering. Candidates must have significant strategic planning, feasibility study and remediation system design experience under various regulatory programs (RCRA, CERCLA, petroleum, dry cleaning) and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Responsibilities will include managing multidisciplinary project teams, client relations, and senior technical mentoring/review/oversight.
