Comprehensive Environmental Study at a Coal-fired Power Plant

HSW assessed and evaluated the environmental conditions at a Tampa facility for the purpose of determining regulatory compliance, evaluating potential noncompliance, and developing a plan, including recommended remedial activities, that would allow the facility to attain and maintain compliance with environmental permits and regulations. The primary focus of facility compliance is stormwater management.

The study encompassed a variety of surface water issues including identifying potential pollutant sources, managing contact and non-contact stormwater, and developing strategies for prevention of uncontrolled releases. HSW's project team developed a comprehensive stormwater runoff model to assess rainfall-runoff scenarios as established in existing permits or other regulatory guidelines. Model results were used to evaluate the capacity of existing stormwater structures and for conceptual design of potential improvement projects. Eighteen improvement projects were identified and prioritized.
