‘A Storm Surge Induced Chemical Contamination Study for the Tampa Bay Area’ – by Ziqi He, PhD, PE

“This study presented a framework to prioritize facilities of critical concern and assess the risks associated with storm surge-induced chemical releases. The results from this study can be used in the pre-disaster and post-disaster planning periods during a major storm surge event. For example, the critical facility and the chemical information database can provide insights regarding post-disaster search and rescue operations, assessment of critical facilities to ensure the presence/absence of potential adverse impacts to human health and the environment, and long-term environmental recovery and restoration from a storm surge impact.”
